10 Common Dreams and their Meanings

Everyone dreams (even if we don’t always remember them after the fact) and researchers have found that the majority of us have dreams with similar themes.

 

For years people have tried to interpret the fleeting images that we see when we go to sleep – some interpretations are outright bizarre, while others are pretty understandable. This is a list of the interpretations that the Association for the Study of Dreams has given to the most recurring and common types of dream.

 

10. Car Troubles

 

In these types of dreams you are usually in or near a car or some other type of vehicle which is out of control or has other problems that seem insurmountable. For example, the brakes may have failed, you may have lost control of the steering, or be heading over a cliff or crashing. You can either be the driver or the passenger. This is a very common type of nightmare and it occurs in all people – not just those who can drive. This dream usually means that you are feeling powerless over something in your life – or that you are heading for a crash (metaphorically speaking).

 

9. Faulty Machinery

 

In the faulty machinery dream you are trying to operate mechanical equipment which either fails to work, or fails to work in the way that you expect it to. The vast majority of these dreams involve a telephone – either trouble dialing, losing a connection, or dialing a wrong number. It can involve a lost Internet connection, or something manual like a jammed or broken machine. This dream often means that you feel you are losing touch with reality, or that a part of your body or mind is not functioning as it should. It can also occur when you are feeling anxious about making a connection with another person in real life.

 

8. Lost or Trapped

 

Dreaming about being lost is very common and will usually occur when you are having conflict in deciding how to react in a situation in real life. In the dream you are trying to find your way out of an area – such as a forest, city streets, a large building, or other maze-like structure. Another way this dream plays out involves you being trapped, buried alive, caught in a web, or unable to move for some other reason. This is often accompanied by a feeling of terror. This dream usually means that you are trapped in real life – unable to make the right choice.

 

7. Missed a Boat or Plane

 

In this type of dream you are rushing to catch a bus, train, plane, or other type of public transport – but you miss it – usually by a fraction of a second. Rather than feeling fear in this dream, you usually feel frustration. This dream can also occur in a different form, in which you arrive late for an important performance or sporting event that you are supposed to participate in, only to find that the event has already begun. This dream usually means that you feel that you have missed out on an important opportunity in your real life. It will often occur when you are struggling over an important decision.

 

6. Failing a Test

 

This dream usually manifests itself in people who have been out of school for a long time. In the dream you are prevented from passing a test in a variety of different possible scenarios. In one scenario you find that you are unable to make it to the test on time, often through being unable to find the test room. In other versions you are unprepared (either through lack of study) or you are missing equipment. This dream usually means that you are feeling tested in some way in your real life. You may feel that you are unprepared for something or playing the wrong part in life.

 

5. Ill or Dying

 

In this dream, you (or a loved one) are ill, injured, or dying. It is a moderately common dream and, not surprisingly, occurs often at the onset of an illness. Aside from becoming ill, this dream can mean that you are emotionally hurt or are afraid of becoming hurt. The dream may also be warning you of an upcoming physical risk to yourself or a loved one. When it is someone else in the dream that dies, it can mean that you feel that part of yourself (that you see represented by that person) is dead. It may also mean that you wish the person would go away, or that you fear losing them.

 

4. Being Chased

 

Dreaming of being chased can be a truly horrifying experience. Most often the chaser is a monster or some person that is frightening, and occasionally it may be an animal. You may be surprised to know that this is the most commonly experienced nightmare theme. The meaning of these dreams is that someone, something (possibly something as obscure as an emotion) is making you feel threatened. One way to determine the root of the threat is to ask yourself who or what in your real life most closely resembles the “creature” or circumstance in your dream. It is also worth noting that sometimes this dream is a replay of an actual event in your life.

 

3. Bad or Missing Teeth

 

Teeth dreams are fairly common and they usually involve the discovery of extremely decayed or missing teeth in your own mouth. Sometimes you will dream that you open your mouth and your teeth begin to fall out. The fact that the majority of people today have reasonable teeth (perhaps with the exception of the British), it is not surprising that we feel so emotionally disturbed by these dreams. So, what does it mean when we dream about missing teeth? At the most basic level it means that we are afraid of being found unattractive. At a deeper level, it can signify a fear of embarrassment or a loss of power in real life. Oh – I was just kidding about the “British” thing!

 

2. Dream Nudity

 

In this type of dream you are in a state of undress, partial undress, or inappropriate dress (for example wearing pajamas to work). Occasionally you are the witness of another person who is naked while you are clothed. This is often accompanied by feelings of embarrassment and shame, but occasionally with the feeling of pride or freedom. The meaning of this dream is that you are feeling exposed, awkward, or vulnerable, or you are afraid that you have revealed too much of yourself (such as a secret or a very personal feeling) in a real life situation. An interesting fact about this type of dream is that it occurs much more frequently in people who are involved in a wedding ceremony in their real life.

 

1. Falling or Sinking

 

We have all had falling dreams – it is such a common dream, in fact, that myths have arisen over them; the most common myth is, of course, that you will die if you hit the ground in the dream. I can assure you, having hit the ground in more than one falling dream, that this is not true at all. In the falling dream we are usually falling through the air and frightened. Occasionally we may be sinking in water (and in danger of drowning). Typically a person having this dream is feeling insecure or lacking in support in their waking life. These dreams often occur when you are overwhelmed in life and feel ready to give up. If you have this dream you should evaluate your current situation and try to locate the problem that is overwhelming you. Deal with it and this dream should go away.

Hunting ghosts at Whittington Castle

Shropshire Star writer Ben Bentley joined a group of ghost hunters for a moonlight tour of a county castle.

 

At Whittington Castle, near Oswestry, it’s approaching midnight: Time to talk to dead people.

 

Seated around a table in a ‘chapel’ lit only by moonlight from a nearby window, I am part of a group of paranormal investigators taking part in the first late-night vigils of their kind at the castle, attempting through a series of experiments to make contact with spirits and energies of people who lived and died here.

 

And they’re not shy. A few minutes into a seance, in which our collective fingertips touch an upturned glass, the tumbler shudders and begins to move, supposedly in response to direct questions from participants such as “Are you male?” “Did you used to work here?” “Have you seen bad things?”

 

A voice in the darkness asks: “Who do you want to talk to? Can you move towards the person you want to make contact with?” Slowly the glass moves towards the lady to my left, who shudders and lets out a ghoulish gasp.

 

Before long we are having a chat with a dead chap called Thomas, whose surname may or may not be Pickford and who apparently worked here.

 

Later, during an experiment with a pen attached to a small moveable trolley that works in a similar way to a seance glass, our man Thomas is invited to give us information about himself by drawing a picture.

 

Again the pen glides around on a piece of paper. The result looks like idiotic scribble until a member of the group points out that the drawing bears an uncanny resemblance to an iron.

 

Spookily, a different member of the group who works at the castle informs us that this room used to be used as a laundry. Might Thomas have been in charge of the sheets hundreds of years ago?

 

Personally I’ll admit to being a sceptic in these kinds of things but clearly I am among people who do believe in the supernatural and are happy to dabble in it.

 

Earlier, to whip up the vibes in the room, we sit in the darkness holding hands, attempting to send energy round in a clockwise direction. At one point the hand of the lady to my left suddenly goes cold and the back of my own legs feel as though they have frozen.

 

She shudders. Her husband to her left jolts and lets out a groan, unnervingly announcing: “Something just touched me on the back.”

 

Whether there is a spirit playing a game of tag or I am part of the most elaborate piece of theatre this side of Scooby Doo I’ll concede one thing: I am scared. Very scared.

 

With television shows such as Most Haunted attracting huge audiences, ghosthunting and delving into the paranormal is more popular than ever. This is the first time a paranormal investigation like this, organised by Paranormal Tours, has taken place at the castle, which many say is haunted.

 

Among them is Peter Ray, a director of the castle’s preservation trust who in the process of restoring the historic Norman motte and bailey structure found himself sleeping here at weekends.

 

“One time I slept here in my old Volvo estate and I’d dropped off but half an hour later I woke up needing the toilet. I looked out of the window and I saw this shape that I could only describe as a wraith – a black shimmery thing that was there for about 30 seconds. It was really weird. I just lay there really scared.”

 

He’s also experienced radios that come on in the middle of the night and weird sounds emanating from the dungeon tower.

 

“I was walking along and as I got closer to the wall I heard this atrocious, gurgling noise. I looked around and there was no-one. That was very unnerving. A couple of weeks later it happened again.”

 

Before our ghost hunting vigils begin, there is a series of psychic workshops and a ghost walk around the castle led by a medium called John, who then leads a tour of the grounds, using his powers of mediumship to get messages from people on the other side. It’s odd to watch John’s mouth race away like it’s possessed by the people sending messages.

 

Apparently he knows nothing of the castle or its history, and ahead of the event is given only a postcode to enable him to find it.

 

He paces one room and announces: “A lot happened here and it’s not nice. I’m seeing bodies and blood. A lot of blood.”

 

Of course this is true of most castles. At Whittington, there are supposed connections to Dick Whittington and to Robin Hood. During the civil war the castle was loyal to the Royalists until Oliver Cromwell’s Roundheads took it by force in 1643.

 

John leads us across the bridge to the dungeons where he ’sees’ young lovers doing what young lovers do. So do I. A friend of mine lost her virginity over there, but it’s not something that is picked up upon by John!

 

Later, we use an array of equipment including a digital thermometer and an EMF gauge to record any atmospheric changes caused by the presence of spirits.

 

One of the most common feelings people got was feeling suddenly cold, and our thermometer bore it out. Temperatures of walls would suddenly drop, and rise again, by several degrees.

 

During my night at the castle I don’t see a ghost. But I am left with many unexplained questions and having watched living people’s reactions to being contacted by the dead, I am, I admit, pretty frightened. I depart faster than Scooby Doo chased by a man dressed in a sheet.

Ghost-hunting teens encounter live robbers

EXETER, R.I., April 23 (UPI) — Five Rhode Island men have been charged with giving ghost-hunting teenagers a real scare by robbing them in an abandoned state school.

State police said the suspects were students in the Job Corps at a building on the grounds of the Ladd School, The Providence Journal-Bulletin reported. They were allegedly armed with knives, clubs, BB guns and axes when they held up a total of 12 teenagers over the past three months.

They allegedly stole cell phones, money and credit cards from their victims.

State Police Capt. David Neill said the Ladd School, which opened in 1907 for people with mental disabilities, is closed to the public. But he said ghost hunters manage to get in.

Visitors claim they have heard voices and have been touched or hit by invisible hands. Some have reported cameras malfunctioning for no apparent reason.

The defendants were identified as two brothers, Kou Xiong, 21, and Benjamin Xiong, 19, of Warwick; Sidney Chay, 19, of Providence; Anthony Deloge, 18, of Warwick; and Jonathan Wilson, 25, of Charlestown.

They were ordered held without bail pending a hearing May 6 on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy.

Harold the ghost makes an appearance

A group of ghost hunters claimed they got more than they bargained for during a spooky night at a historic Lancashire landmark.

Many people claim to have seen the spectre of resident ghost Sarah Siddons at the Lancaster Grand Theatre.

During an event organised by Preston hotel worker Lydia Jenkins, the Clitheroe Paranormal Investigators (CPI) claimed they had tuned in to the spirit of a man called Harold.

Lydia, who works as a food and beverage assistant at The Legacy Preston International Hotel, claimed: “A member of the group managed to contact one ghost, Harold.

“It made the room’s temperature drop by five degrees in the space of around seven minutes, in a room with about 22 people.

“Harold communicated with other members of CPI and told them that he was part of a travelling group of actors from the south and they were stopping at the Midland Hotel and the year was 1937.”

And Lydia reckons she had a paranormal encounter of her own while snapping photographs inside the 18th century theatre.

She claimed: “I was taking pictures and moments before taking one, a seat moved down by itself.

“The seats were very heavy and not on springs like the others, so it couldn’t have moved by itself and we checked it many times.

‘Dog killed by Yowie’ ( Bigfoot, Yeti)

FIRST it was UFOs, now it’s feared Yowies could be on the loose in Darwin’s rural area.

 

A Territory Yowie researcher believes the Big-Foot-like beast could be responsible for the recent death of a dog south of Darwin.

 

The dog’s owners believed their seven-month-old puppy, which had its head ripped from its body, was mauled to death by dingoes.

 

But Andrew McGinn, who has been researching Yowies in the Top End for more than a decade, said it was possible the hairy ape-type beast was responsible for the attack.

 

“The way the guy’s dog was killed was typical of a Yowie,” he said.

 

“I know it sounds fanciful but over the past 100 years, dogs get killed or decapitated and people report feeling watched, having goats stolen or seeing some tall hairy thing in the days beforehand.”

 

In the late 1990s there were several reports of Yowie sightings around Acacia Hills.

 

In August 1997, mango farmer Katrina Tucker reported being just metres away from what she described as a hairy humanoid creature on her Acacia Hills property.

 

Photographs of the creature’s footprint were taken the next day and examined by the Northern Territory Museum, which concluded that Ms Tucker had been hoaxed.

 

But Mr McGinn said after speaking with Ms Tucker he had no doubt her story was true.

 

“After I met this lady I found she was clearly terrified,” he said.

 

Carpenter Darryl Campbell reported seeing a similar creature near Adelaide River in 1998.

 

Mr McGinn contacted the Northern Territory News after reading a report that Acacia Hills resident Alan Ferguson had spotted UFOs flying around his home.

 

He said the area seemed to be home to a lot of unusual activity.

 

“I have been here for 16 years and I hear time and time again reports of these strange things around Acacia Hills,” he said.

 

But Mr Ferguson said he had never seen a Yowie.

 

“I only see things scootin’ around the sky, I don’t see hairy monsters,” he said,

 

“But if that’s really true, what’s next, dinosaurs running around the streets?”

Is this a Real Government Manual about UFO’s ?…Download it for Yourself

An alleged 1954 U.S. special operations manual that provides instruction on dealing with UFOs and extraterrestrial beings was discussed by researchers Robert Wood, Ph.D., and Ryan Wood Thursday, April 16, on the radio program “Coast to Coast AM.”

 

The Woods, a father and son team, examine and evaluate the authenticity of various government documents related to UFOs.

 

They said on Coast to Coast AM that their research indicates the manual has characteristics indicating it is authentic.

 

The alleged manual is titled “SOM1-01 Special Operations Manual: Extraterrestrial Entities and Technology, Recovery and Disposal.”

 

The cover of the manual includes the date April 1954 and notes that it was created by the “Majestic-12 Group.”

 

Some researchers have proposed that the manual could be a fraud or hoax. If that is the case, which is possible, the manual would not be considered a classified or restricted government document.

 

OVERVIEW OF CONTENTS

 

In the table of contents, the manual lists six chapters as well as other sub-sections. Additional information at the end of the manual is also of interest.

 

The sections include:

 

“Chapter 1 – Operation Majestic-12, Section I: Project purpose and goals”

 

“Chapter 2 – Introduction, Section I: General, Section II: Definition and data”

 

“Chapter 3 – Recovery Operations, Section I: Security, Section II: Technology recovery”

 

“Chapter 4 – Receiving and Handling, Section I: Handling upon receipt of material”

 

“Chapter 5 – Extraterrestrial Biological Entities, Section I: Living organisms, Section II: Non-living organisms”

 

“Chapter 6 – Guide to UFO Identification, Section I: UFOB guide, Section II: Identification criteria, Section III: Possible origins”

 

The copy of the manual the Woods obtained was a page-by-page photocopy. Some of the text is difficult to read. However, interesting material is contained in the alleged manual. This includes the following:

 

“Scope: This manual has been prepared especially for Majestic-12 units. Its purpose is to present all aspects of Majestic-12 so authorized personnel will have a better understanding of the goals of the Group, be able to more expertly deal with Unidentified Flying Objects, Extraterrestrial Technology and Entities, and increase the efficiency of future operations.”

 

“General: MJ-12 takes the subject of UFOBs, Extraterrestrial Technology and Extraterrestrial Biological Entities very seriously and considers the entire subject to be a matter of the very highest national security.”

 

“History of the Group: Operation Majestic-12 was established by classified presidential order on 24 September 1947 at the recommendation of Secretary of Defense James V. Forrestal and Dr. Vannevar Bush, Chairman of the Joint Research and Development Board.”

 

The alleged manual describes the goals of the Majestic-12 Group in detail including the acquisition of “EBEs” and technology, formation of special teams to for these purposes, designation of secure facilities for these activities and related support operations.

 

The manual also provides an overview of the “current situation” about what was known at that time regarding views on extraterrestrial visitors. Possible threats to the U.S. are also assessed.

 

DETAILED INFORMATION

 

One section of the manual is “Description of Craft.” This section describes four types of craft: “Elliptical or disc shape,” “fuselage or cigar shape,” “ovoid or circular shape” and “airfoil or triangular shape.” The manual also provides details of each UFO type, based on radar and observations.

 

 

In another section, “Description of Extraterrestrial Biological Entities (EBEs),” the document notes “EBE Type I” and “EBE Type II” and includes physical descriptions of the beings.

 

In a section titled “Description of Extraterrestrial Technology,” the manual reviews analysis of materials obtained from UFO crashes.

 

Security aspects of the situation as well as recovery of EBEs and technology from crashes or other kinds of encounters are covered in the manual. Sub-sections include “Press Blackout,” “Secure the Area,” “Removal and Transport,” “Cleansing the Area” and “Special or Unusual Conditions.”

 

The manual also includes specific instructions regarding packing any materials obtained and the shipment of such materials to other personnel.

 

In a section on “Extraterrestrial Biological Entities,” sub-sections provide guidance on circumstances of contact or encounters such as “Encounters initiated by EBEs” and “Encounters as the result of downed craft.”

 

Information in the manual also covers “Isolation and Custody” of living EBEs as well as “Retrieval and Preservation” of deceased EBEs.

Video :Amazing octopus UFO filmed by child in Brazil

This amazingly clear video of a shape-shifting UFO was sent in to us by a reader. Allegedly it was filmed in Rio in Brazil by a child but we cannot confirm this. It is certainly a cut above your average UFO video and no one can accuse it of being nothing more than a fuzzy blob of light. The object begins as a ‘jellyfish’ shaped craft and then transforms into an ‘octopus’ UFO (watch the whole video for the full effect).

We have no idea if it is real (it sure looks real) or fake nor do we have any idea if it is already a well known video amongst UFO researchers. If any one does have any information on the video please contact us.

In Brazil UFOs have been declared real by the Air Force and the area is a hotbed of supposedly extraterrestrial activity. Many believe a UFO base exists in the Amazon Rainforest.

Vibrational Imprints

Each time we touch or exsist in close proximity to an object, our bodies because of the fact that they radiate energies, will leave a vibrational imprint behind. These Imprints that are made up of either positively charged or negative energies from emotions impressions, memories and experiences, that then become part of the history of the object. Much like us, it has a story and when you tune in to it, you will be able to read the subtle messages, this is called Psychometry.

 

Psychometry is the natural art of reading an object’s history in regard to the people and events it has encountered. When you hold an object, that has memories attached, it can make you ‘feel’ connected to the moment it experienced and make you feel the energies of what it is associated with. In the same way, you could walk in a House in which a terrible event has happened, and it feels cold and silent. I believe that all Humans possess such Psychometric abilities, but we may not offcourse be well tuned to them. All objects vibrate at various yet specific frequencies, and psychometry requires that we ‘tune in’ to those frequencies. It would be advisable to begin practising or ‘tuning’ into these abilities by using objects to begin with that have been in close proximity to their owner. For example, a piece of jewellary, maybe even with a gemstone in, since Gems hold the energy so well, one is actually able to ‘feel’ the mood of the person who owns it. The information you recieve from the object via Psychometry, usually has to do with it’s owner and may be related to a place, a feeling, or mood, or an event that happened. Emotions tend to be easier to sense.

A good way to excersize this ability, is to as always, find a quiet space where you are able to focus and relax. Sit with your palms facing upwards, and have a friend put in your submissive or recieving hand, this is usually the left hand, an object that is a valued, ie. ‘loved’ possession. Let your mind clear, so that you are open to recieve any impressions from it. And then relate what your feelings, thoughts, sensations, were. what you heard or maybe saw whilst holding it. By holding an object in your hand or putting it to your forehead, you can sense an object’s history and experience the emotions, sounds, tastes, smells, or images that have left their impressions behind. Psychometry is usually performed on a small object intimately connected to its owner, it is just as possible to experience the historical imprints left behind in an enclosed space, such as a car or house. Once you have experienced the energies, you are able to then clear it of any memories or experiences, and also learn from the wealth of information stored within._________________

Wired Interview With Art Bell

Nearly 20 years ago, Art Bell created the wildly popular radio program Coast to Coast AM, a wee-hour forum for weird science. We asked him why the show entertains, even encourages, the crazies.

 

Wired: You were hosting a political talk show before you jumped to the supernatural. What inspired the switch?

 

Bell: I was crushingly bored talking about politics 30 hours a week. So one day I said, “The hell with it,” and I brought on John Lear, a very outspoken ufologist. The audience just went nuts! The phones lit up.

 

Wired: How did your bosses react?

 

Bell: They had heart attacks. But when the ratings came in, we were overwhelmingly number one. I was lucky because the show was on at night. There’s a different breed of person awake at those hours. And the world is a quieter place, with less to distract us from esoteric thought. I think—no, I’m sure—Coast to Coast wouldn’t work with a daytime audience.

 

Wired: Why are people so drawn to the paranormal?

 

Bell: The same reason we’re drawn to God. The greatest question of all is whether our experience on this planet is “it” or whether there is something else. Things in the supernatural realm give support, strangely perhaps, to the things we take on faith. Like ghosts, for example—they underscore the possibility of an afterlife.

 

Wired: Do you believe in ghosts?

 

Bell: I’ve never seen one, so I’m skeptical. But I do believe in the paranormal, that there are things our brains just can’t understand.

 

Wired: As you’re listening to callers, how often do you think, “No f-ing way”?

 

Bell: Oh, all the time. But if you’re into a really great tale, then it doesn’t actually matter if it’s true or not.

 

Wired: The funny thing about radio is that you never have to show any evidence.

 

Bell: That’s right. That’s why radio is “the theater of the mind.”
