The Reverend at Roswell

New information has emerged indicating that the Base Chaplain at Roswell at the time of the alleged 1947 UFO crash, Reverend Elijah H. Hankerson, may have been called to provide support for those unable to handle the event.

“The enormity of suddenly being confronted with sky-fallen craft and beings from another world near Roswell, NM in July of 1947 was no doubt spiritually shattering.” More>>>

Keeping The Secrets Of Roswell

06/15/2009 · Leave a Comment

When it comes to military personnel involved in the recovery of debris at the crash site near Roswell – it seems the higher the rank, the less likely they are to talk.

Mayo, Florida – What’s it like to talk freely about a state secret you’ve been forced to live with for 60 years? “Earl felt like he was out of prison,” recalls Mary Fulford. “He felt like he’d been held for years in a vacuum and finally was released. It was great. The last two years of his life, he was in his glory because he was able to speak up.”

Earl Fulford was one of many who went public two years ago, in a book called Witness to Roswell by Don Schmitt and Thomas Carey. He was stationed at Roswell Army Air Field in 1947 when he was ordered into the so-called UFO debris field for cleanup detail.

Joined by more than a dozen other grunts, and under the hawk-eyed command of MPs, Fulford described gathering more than a dozen foil-like strips of memory metal, which morphed into their original, wrinkle-free shapes after he crumpled them in his fist.

There’s lots of quixotic speculation on the fringes lately about the prospects for UFO disclosure under the Obama administration.

The process would necessarily include amnesty for whistleblowers, but even that could prove tricky.

When the Roswell controversy neared its pitch during the approach of 50-year anniversary festivities, Air Force Secretary Dr. Sheila Widnall authorized waivers for military eyewitnesses to break their security oaths and shed light on the mystery. There were few takers, and not just because so many were dead.

“You’re talking about ‘the greatest generation,’ and they had the fear of God put into them,” says co-author Carey from his home in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. “How many decided to talk because they had amnesty? A handful. That’s all. You could count ‘em on the fingers of one hand.”

Carey says he had to be persistent with Earl Fulford, who died last August at 82.

After being hectored into silence by superior officers at RAAF, the WWII veteran was initially suspicious of Widnall’s guarantees and was reluctant to roll.

Mary Fulford, who lives outside the rural Florida panhandle town of Mayo, recalls that her husband of 55 years actually told her about his encounters with the memory metal and his oath of silence roughly a quarter century ago. But their kids stayed in the dark until recently.

“When people started talking about Roswell back in the ‘90s, we’d say stuff about ‘little green men’ and Daddy would say, ‘Look, if it wasn’t a government coverup, why was it covered up?’” recalls son Brad Fulford, who lives near Mom. “But he wouldn’t say anything else.”

The ice began to crack roughly four years ago, when Carey picked up Fulford’s trail, sent him a copy of Widnall’s waiver, and began applying a little pressure. But there’s more to this story than details of the exotic debris recovery on the rolling range outside Roswell. Generally speaking, says Carey, there’s a pattern distinguishing those who’ll talk from those who won’t.

“The higher the rank, the less likely they are to talk,” he says. “A career guy is less likely to talk because he’s got a bigger pension. Yes, they’ve got waivers, but that doesn’t matter to some of them. They’ve lived with it for so long.”

Mary Fulford says Earl’s decision to go public with his role in one of the strangest chapters in American history was as much about resignation as an act of faith. “He said, ‘I’m not going to be around much longer anyway, so what can they do to me?’”

Thus, for a brief shining moment, the old sergeant was able to unburden himself for all who wanted to hear. He wound up on Larry King, addressed audiences at the International UFO Museum & Research Center in Roswell, and died a week or so after returning from Los Angeles to participate in a documentary.

“That was his dream, to go back to Roswell someday,” says Brad Fulford, who nudged his father back to New Mexico by putting the trip on his credit card. “I was so glad I could do that for Daddy.”

North Texas Tales —Aurora UFO ( An Alien crash 60 years before Roswell ?)

05/09/2009 · 4 Comments

Friday, May 08, 2009

By Gay Schlittler Storms

Source : http://www.grahamleader.com/news/get-news.asp?id=15713&catid=5&cpg=get-news.asp

The Aurora UFO in 1897 was the first UFO sighting in Texas.

A cotton buyer, S.E. Haydon, saw a slow moving space ship crash into a windmill, bursting into pieces. As the debris was searched through, supposedly the body of a small alien was discovered. The lifeless “little green man” was buried in Aurora Cemetery. The crash occurred 60 years before the Roswell UFO Incident and for that matter, six years before the Wright Brothers became a household name.

News of the UFO crash appeared in the April 19, 1897, edition of the Dallas Morning News. Aurora resident S.E. Haydon wrote that the alleged UFO hit a windmill on a local judge’s land. Haydon described the pilot as “not of this world,” and a “Martian,” who didn’t survive the crash.

The victim was buried at the Aurora Cemetery, which now bears a Texas Historical Commission marker. Wreckage from the crash site was dumped into a nearby well, and some ended up with the alien in the grave.

A follow-up story in 1945 in the Dallas Morning News added more facts about the well. A man named Brawley Oates bought the property with the well and cleaned it out to have it as a working water well. But Oates developed a severe case of arthritis. He felt his illness was caused by the well water, which he concluded was contaminated from the UFO wreckage. To prevent anyone else from drinking the water, he sealed the well.

Unlike the Roswell incident, the government never showed any interest in the Aurora UFO. But the Aurora Cemetery Association was adamant that no one disturb the deceased visitor from space. They refused all requests for exhuming the alien’s remains.

“UFO Files” investigated the Aurora UFO event in 2005 and actually uncovered two new so-called eyewitness, neither of whom actually saw the alien. Their parents wouldn’t let them go near the site. The wreckage was composed of 95 percent aluminum and 5 percent iron, TV investigators reported. No earthly alloy of that type existed in 1897 but plenty of modern men could have left the metal since the crash. In 2008, “UFO Hunters” aired another television documentary. Tim Oates, the new owner of the sealed, contaminated well water, allowed the investigators to unseal the well. Investigators found large amounts of aluminum in the water content, but no wreckage was found.

The probable explanation for this UFO sighting was that the whole story was a hoax dreamed up by Haydon, the Dallas Morning News contributor.

Stories have circulated among Aurora citizens that Haydon, a big practical joker, made up the entire story. The hoax theory is primarily based on historical research performed by Barbara Brammer, former mayor of Aurora. Her research revealed that, in the months prior to the alleged crash, Aurora had fallen upon hard times. The cotton crop was destroyed by boll weevils. A fire in the town had claimed lives and buildings, and a spotted fever epidemic nearly finished off the rest of the citizens. To top those misfortunes off, a planned railroad got within 27 miles of Aurora but never made it into the town. Few small towns can survive such a series of disasters.

The hoax theory seemed even more believable when you consider that Haydon never performed any sort of follow-up on the story, not even to report on the alien’s burial. Haydon would have been thrilled when Highway 114 was constructed in 1937. The town is smaller than it was in 1897, but it is still alive.

Apparently peaceful ‘orange blobs’ found in Roswell, N.M.

Source : http://blogs.usatoday.com

UFO investigators digging at a site in Roswell, N.M., where some eyewitnesses claim to have seen the crash of a mysterious craft in 1947 report they found … something, the Roswell Daily Record reports.

“At this point, we don’t know what it was or why it was there,” said UFO investigator Chuck Zukowski. “I don’t want to speculate.”

The artifacts were found in 2002 during a dig sponsored by the Sci Fi Channel. Zukowski said it took years for them to figure out whether they could run tests on the items, the newspaper reports.

Zukowski and his sister Debbie Ziegelmeyer, state director of the Mutual UFO Network in Missouri, found a tiny piece of silvery material, which is mostly aluminum silicate, that began to curl up after it was exposed to sunlight.

Bill Doleman, a retired archaeologist who supervised the dig, said aluminum silicate is not uncommon in nature, but that there seemed to be nothing around that would contain or produce the compound, the Record writes.

Doleman also reported finding “orange blobs” that were determined to be heat-resistant synthetic substances.

He says investigators are hoping to get some funding and professional labs to identify the material. Doleman said one of the benefits is that “everybody in the UFO community will think they’re really cool.”

CEO of NASA contractor Lockheed knew of extraterrestrial UFO visitors

02/04/2009 · Leave a Comment

by Jeff Peckman, Denver UFO Examiner

Lockheed “Skunk Works” former CEO knew the Roswell extraterrestial UFO influenced designs of Testor model kits for Roswell UFO models, and U.S. top secret aircraft. According to a CNI News report by Colorado resident Michael Lindemann, the design information was derived from forensic illustrations and numerous witness testimonies about the Roswell UFO, provided by William L. “Bill” McDonald.

In an e-mail, dated July 29, 1999, apparently addressed to Lindemann, McDonald referenced an excerpt of a discussion with Harold Puthoff, founder of the previously highly classified U.S. “remote viewing” program. McDonald said:

“Well Hal, you asked for it! Now that legendary Lockheed engineer and chief model kit designer for the Testor Corporation, John Andrews, is dead, I can announce that he personally confirmed the design connection between the Roswell Spacecraft and the Lockheed Martin Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles (UCAVs), spyplanes, Joint Strike Fighters, and Space Shuttles.  Andrews was a close personal friend of “Skunk Works” CEO Ben Rich — the hand-picked successor of Skunk Works founder Kelly Johnson and the man famous for the F-117 Nighthawk “Stealth” fighter, its “half-pint” prototype the “HAVE BLUE”, and the top-secret F-19 Stealth Interceptor.  Before Rich died of cancer, Andrews took my questions to him.

Dr. Ben R. Rich confirmed:

1.  There are 2 types of UFOs — the ones we build and ones ‘they’ build.  We learned from both crash retrievals and actual “hand-me-downs.”  The Government knew and until 1969 took an active hand in the administration of that information.  After a 1969 Nixon “purge”, administration was handled by an international board of directors in the private sector…

3.  Nearly all “biomorphic” aerospace designs were inspired by the Roswell spacecraft — from Kelly’s SR-71 Blackbird onward to today’s drones, UCAVs, and aerospace craft…

7.  It was Ben Rich’s opinion that the public should not be told [about ufos and extraterrestrials].  He believed they could not handle the truth — ever.  Only in the last months of his decline did he begin to feel that the “international corporate board of directors” dealing with the “Subject” could represent a bigger problem to citizens’ personal freedoms under the United States Constitution than the presence of off-world visitors themselves.”

Lindemann added that “Bill McDonald received the above information from Andrews from 1994 until their last phone call near Christmas in 1998.” Lindemann also noted “It should also be known that Dr. Ben R. Rich attended a public aerospace designers and engineers conference in 1993 before his illness overwhelmed him in which he stated — in the presence of MUFON Orange County Section Director Jan Harzan and many others that – ‘We’ (i.e., the U.S. aerospace community/military industrial complex) had in it’s possession the technology to “take us to the stars”.

See the complete letter from John Andrews and the hand written reply from Dr. Ben Rich. Hear more revealing testimony from Disclosure Project whistleblowers. NASA can not deny secrets discovered by UK hacker Gary McKinnon and many astronauts if it expects full funding from the Obama White House administration.

NASA agent spills UFO beans : McKinnon defender says the truth is out there

01/29/2009 · Leave a Comment

By Mark Ballard , theinquirer.net

A VETERAN NASA agent who says he processed the real X-Files has come clean with the inside story on the Roswell aliens.

Joseph Richard Gutheinz Jr, a practising criminal lawyer and decorated former NASA special agent, spoke out in defence of UFO hacker Gary Mckinnon last week. Having also spent the last four years on the Texas Criminal Justice Advisory Committee on Medical and Mental Impairments, he felt qualified to call on the US government to cease its unfair hounding of the UFO hacker.

But Gutheinz, it turns out, is himself a poster-boy for UFO conspiracists, just like McKinnon: he is famous for telling a mysterious tale of dead Roswell aliens being kept in Building 265 at NASA’s Johnson Space Centre where he used to work in Houston, and of a sinister government cover up.

Gutheinz led a team of agents in NASA’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG). They worked from a secret bunker with grass and trees covering it. It had cypher doors leading to secluded rooms furnished with nothing but a desk, a lamp and a single telephone. Beyond the steel doors to the outside world, astronauts were training for Space Shuttle missions.

“It was kind of a spooky building. People always wondered what went on there,” Gutheinz told The Inquirer. “Except for Mission Control, it was the most highly secured building at Johnson Space Centre.”

The OIG agents were so secret that even NASA wasn’t allowed to know what they were investigating. “The joke at NASA OIG is that whoever was the producer of the X-Files picked the wrong agency, because nobody calls the FBI. They don’t trust the FBI. What they do if they think they’ve been abducted or something like that, they used to call the criminal investigators at NASA, which is the Office of the Inspector General.

“As a senior special agent I used to get these calls on a regular basis where somebody says I’ve been abducted, I’ve got a chip in my brain, there’s somebody following me around,” he said.

“It’s one of the things that interested me about the Gary McKinnon story because here’s a guy who really thinks there’s UFOs, who’s going the extra step to prove it. I understood that, because I had dealt with so many of those individuals in the past,” Gutheinz added.

The most prominent of those people was Jerry Alan Whittredge, who impersonated an astronaut and thought he was a CIA assassin. He blagged his way into Mission Control, was given Space Shuttle specifications and permission to fly jets. “That was a lot of the people that we used to get calls from,” said Gutheinz.

OIG agents were involved in the seven-agency investigation that caught Gary McKinnon snooping around their systems for evidence of captured UFO technology. Typically, the OIG roots out internal fraud at NASA. That’s why they have to be secret. What they don’t do is interrogate aliens.

The truth

“Just so you know, so we are totally clear,” said Gutheinz. “You can dig all over the place – there is no ET at NASA.”

But it was Gutheinz who in the February/March 2005 edition of UFO Magazine wrote how he had been abducted by agents even more secret than his own; how, being unable to account for whole days, with only vague memories of brain chips, he stumbled across the desert outpost in New Mexico where the Roswell aliens had been autopsied and a terrible accident had turned NASA personnel to dust in their own biological suits.

“I had taken complaints from people who believed the government had placed transmitter/receivers in their brains before, and I had always assumed they were schizophrenics,” wrote Gutheinz. “Even today I know many people who believe this happened to them probably are schizophrenics, but now I know some are telling the truth?”

But Gutheinz was only kidding. He wrote the story for fun. He now finds it embarrassing. His children and students take the mickey out of him. His wife thinks he’ll never live it down. And it was just the transcript of a vivid nightmare that had merged his life in a secret NASA bunker with the calls he would get from conspiracy theorists. Just a transcript, cheekily submitted to a UFO Magazine with an introduction that asked, are these real memories or was it just a dream?

“I thought it was a great idea when I wrote it, because I understood it. But it was sort of like Andy Kaufman. His humour – you were the only one who got it some of the time. I got it when I wrote the thing. I thought it was novel,” said Gutheinz.

The magazine wrote it up under the headline ‘Alien Autopsy Expose – He knows where NASA hid the bodies’.

A self-confessed maverick, Guntheinz has a track record in causing mischief. What do you think he did with those calls he got about alien abduction at NASA?

“I hate to say it, but when I had a rascal instinct, I would find somebody at the FBI didn’t like, and I would give them that phone number and have them call the FBI,” confessed Gutheinz.

Won’t somebody please come forward and reassure us that there really are aliens? That this fragile, lonely planet isn’t all we have? Perhaps take some comfort here: the Disclosure Project, the UFO group that inspired McKinnon to hack into NASA systems in 2001, will tell us what we want to know. They only ask for money first.

WAS OBAMA BRIEFED ON ROSWELL?

11/11/2008 · 1 Comment

By Anthony Bragalia

ufocon.blogspot.com

How are the Secrets of the Nation revealed to incoming presidents? Who reveals? What is said? Is everything told them? Briefing these secrets to the new Commander-In-Chief is in itself a necessarily veiled process. Precisely how it is done -and what is said- remains unknowable. We can surmise that details were related on matters of national security and on matters of international import. But does this intelligence briefing extend to intelligence on things cosmic? Is our new leader told that Man is not alone in the universe? Is he made aware that a craft from another world crashed in our country six decades ago? Does the new President know about Roswell?

We understand that the intelligence briefing process is one that is gradual. It is delivered “incrementally.” Both party presidential candidates -Obama and McCain- were given briefings in early September of this year by Director of National Intelligence Michael McConnell. The briefings were characterized by him as “substantive.” Of course no further details about it were given. According to Reuters, this week President-Elect Obama is “beginning to receive intelligence briefings as part of his transition to the White House.” Presumably much more is being told to Obama this week in these briefings as President-Elect than was told to him eight weeks ago as a presidential candidate. We can infer that once sworn in, President Obama will be told even more.

Obama was asked by the late Tim Russert during a presidential debate about extraterrestrial beings and intelligent life in the universe. Obama replied that he was more interested in people’s lives here in the United States. At other times, he has expressed concerns about the associated costs of a mission to Mars and other manned space flights. Will his lack of interest in things ET limit what is told to him about the subject?

Perhaps personal interest plays little part in considering when (and if) a President is told about such things. President Clinton engaged members of his team (including his Associate Attorney General Webster Hubbell and Chief of Staff John Podesta) to find out the truth about Roswell. Evidently, Clinton was not ever briefed on the subject. A copy of The Truth About the UFO Crash at Roswell was found in his personal library during the Ken Starr investigation. Clinton had to make efforts to find out for himself about Roswell. So did John Podesta. Interestingly, the November 6 New York Times reports that John Podesta is being considered for the Energy Secretary post under Obama. Amazingly, in this same article, The Times says of Podesta, “If anyone knows the truth about Roswell, NM, it’s Mr. Podesta.”

It is likely that prior, senior-level association with Defense or Intelligence agencies is a requirement for being “let in” on the revelation of Roswell.

This very thing is hinted at by Vice President Dick Cheney. Cheney was formerly Defense Secretary under the senior Bush administration. On a DC public radio interview in 2001 a caller asked of Cheney “Have you ever been read in to the UFO program?” Instead of firmly replying “No,” Cheney was surprised and flustered by the caller’s question. He very cautiously and curiously replied, “Well, if I had been briefed on the subject of UFOs, it was probably highly classified and I can’t talk about it.”

Cheney’s close friend since the 1970s is former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. In 1968, Rumsfeld (as a US Representative) formally introduced USAF Project Bluebook Advisor Dr. J. Allen Hynek to the House of Representatives Committee on Science and Aeronautics Symposium on UFOs. Years later, when Rumsfeld was Defense Secretary under President Ford, Hynek approached Rumsfeld about the UFO subject to see what Rumsfeld had learned, given his position. Rumsfeld rose from his chair, pointed at Hynek, and said “You have no right to know!”

Access to the highly compartmentalized Roswell information is given by those who know. And it is only given to those deemed by them to have a Need to Know. Our new President has the need to know. As the London Free Times exclaimed in its headlines after the election, we are all living in “A Whole New World!”

Let us hope that life in our new world will include sharing the truth about the lives that exist on others.

Britain has its own Roswell incident

09/29/2008 · Leave a Comment

By Mike Conley | The McDowell News

Published: September 24, 2008

Here in the United States, UFO researchers and ordinary people alike talk a lot about what happened in Roswell, N.M. in July 1947. It has become a part of American folklore.

But something also very weird happened in Suffolk, England in December 1980 and it has become known at “Britain’s Roswell.”

Located about eight miles east of Ipswich, England, Rendlesham Forest covers about 3,700 acres. The forest is also located close to two military bases, called RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge. In 1980, both bases were being used by the U.S. Air Force and were under the command of Col. Gordon E. Williams. Remember, this was during the Cold War and more American servicemen were stationed in England at that time.

At about 3 a.m. on Dec. 26, 1980, a security patrol near the East Gate of RAF Woodbridge reported seeing a unidentified flying object in the dark woods. At first, the servicemen thought it was a downed aircraft. But as they entered the forest to check it out, the servicemen saw numerous strange lights moving through the trees, as well as a bright light from an unidentified object.

Shortly after 4 a.m., the local police were also called to the scene but reported that the only lights they could see were those from a nearby lighthouse.

Some of the airmen who were there that night later claimed to have seen a metallic object shaped like a cone and suspended in a yellow mist. It reportedly hovered over a clearing in the forest. The UFO had a pulsating red light on top and a bank of blue lights underneath. One airman claimed to have seen triangular landing gear on the object which left three impressions in the ground that could be seen the next day.

The airmen also reported that the weird hovering object seemed to move away from them as they approached it. The airmen followed the object as it hovered over a nearby field. The UFO then disappeared into the night sky, according to a Web site.

At daybreak, the airmen returned to the small clearing where the UFO had first been seen. They found three small impressions in a triangular pattern, as well as burn marks and broken branches on nearby trees. In addition, they found extremely high levels of radiation where the branches were broken. At 10:30 a.m., the local police were called out again, this time to see the impressions on the ground. The English police concluded that they might have been made by some kind of animal, according to the Web site.

On the night of Dec. 28, Lt. Col. Charles Halt, who was the deputy base commander, assembled a large team of airmen to investigate the sighting and hopefully put an end to the wild rumors.

Instead, Halt and his men ran right into another UFO. They supposedly encountered a “red sun-like light” that moved about and pulsed in the Rendlesham Forest. Then, the UFO divided itself into five separate white objects and disappeared into the night sky. Immediately after that, the airmen noticed three star-like objects maneuvering in the sky, one occasionally beaming down a narrow stream of light.

It was during this investigation that a flashing light was seen across the field to the east, almost in line with the nearby farmhouse. Halt also recorded a narrative of what he was seeing as it happened by using a voice tape recorder.

According to one account, small alien beings with domed heads supposedly left the UFO and Col. Gordon Williams communicated with them using sign language, like something out of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” However, this tale comes from an unconfirmed rumor.

As part of the legend about the Rendlesham Forest incident, the airmen were allegedly debriefed and ordered by their superiors to keep silent about what they had seen. One of the eyewitnesses claimed to have been forced to sign a document stating the UFO was really a lighthouse. Some accounts state that they were threatened to keep quiet with the warning that “bullets are cheap.”

But in recent years, some of the eyewitnesses have come forward with what they saw. The American shows “Unsolved Mysteries” and the History Channel’s “UFO Hunters” have devoted programs to the Rendlesham Forest incident. British journalists have also looked into what happened.

Today, the forest appears quite different from the way it looked in 1980 because of a massive storm that hit England in 1987. But there is a UFO trail that goes through there informing visitors of what occurred during those cold nights in December 1980.
