The spirit of this serial killer could indeed still be in the home, and his personality as the killer will be who he may behave as in spirit. The reality of this is he could also enter a body of either the people who visit the home or who may choose to live there and if this happens then they may need an exorcist to see if they can extract the spirit from the home or from a human he may choose to inhabit. This could turn into some of the stories we have herard about like the Exorcist and or Audry Rose or any number of others who have experienced this kind of fright from the spirit so the dead.
